In search of Curlew Sandpipers

After an early morning visit to the Spit, where incidentally a couple of bods have been residing in the Hide overnight recently, I decided to try the North Wall for better photographs of the increasing numbers of Curlew Sandpipers.
After help from Messrs Callis and Western these were located in Whites Creek and despite a stealthy approach down the eastern side they were never quite close enough to get really good photographs. Nevertheless a few record shots resulted, which were an improvement on my previous efforts.

 

In total there were up to 12 birds and as the tide rose they flew off towards the west side of the harbour.

...and finally at 7.30pm  a quick check of the Spit and a few Wheatears on the posts...this one posing in the  warm evening light....
